The Rising Costs of Forest Fires in California

This chart shows the dollar damage caused by large forest fires in the area covered by the California Department of Forestry and Protection. Note that the y-axis is logarithmic: there's more distance between smaller dollar values than the larger ones to minimize the distortion. Very very expensive fires (like ones in 2003) make every other year look cheap in comparison.
