The stock of international migrants strongly increased since the early 1990s – in Austria and especially in Vienna.
This trend was reflected in the increasing number of naturalisations until 2003. A changed legislation led to a dramatic decrease since then. In the long run this circumstance "produces" more and more foreign citizens.
