Annual demand projections (PJ) for the eastern gas market

The light blue on the graph shows a sudden increase in export (LNG) demand when Gladstone's three huge new LNG trains are scheduled to come online. Export demand will suck up domestic supplies. Analysts predict this increase will cause a shortage of cheap gas, particularly in New South Wales, which imports most of its gas from other states. Note that domestic (dark blue) demand, which is mainly electricity utilities, is forecast to dip slightly.
