Alabama sales tax revenue, YTD in May

Sales taxes go up and down with an important measure of economic activity -- consumer spending. When we buy more, sales taxes go up. In 2009, Alabama sales tax revenues dropped by more than 9 percent as the recession hit. Five years later, the state has finally managed to set a new record in sales tax revenues.
