The High Cost of Compliance With Clery on One Campus

The University of Connecticut spends more than $400,000 each year to comply with the federal campus-crime-reporting law known as the Clery Act. In addition, the university has spent $233,000 in one-time costs for an emergency-messaging system and training since 2012, says Barbara O’Connor, chief of police and director of public safety.
